Sony rolls out “my Xperia” phone tracking app
Sony introduced its smartphone tracking application in January. Since then, My Xperia was available only for the Nordic customers. After a successful test period, Sony is going to roll out the service globally.
My Xperia is similar to the Find My iPhone app. It allows users to track and locate their smartphones in case they are stolen. Sony will gradually roll out the app to all Xperia devices released in 2013 and 2013 over the next few weeks. The availability will vary depending on the smartphone model, the country and the carrier. Once it becomes available for you, you will see a notification on the device and you can install the app through the Update Center. After the successful installation, you can enable my Xperia service from the settings menu, but you need to fill in your Google ID on the special browser dashboard.
If your device is lost or stolen you can log in to the website and locate it on the map. You can even make the display of your lost device to wake or a sound to alert to get people’s attention. You will be able also to lock the phone, so your information and contact will be protected and nobody can use your Sony device. There is also an option all internal and external information to be erased.
After a long time of testing and adjustments, Sony is ready to roll out the service globally. Be patient and wait for a notification on the screen. Our advice is to install the app, because it is an invaluable tool in case if your phone is stolen. Or you can use the app to find your device somewhere in the house.
