Sony begins to roll-out the Android 4.2.2 update for Xperia ZR
The last two days of July brought good news for owners of Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL and now, Sony Xperia ZR – the long waited update with the new build Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The first two models got the update earlier and one day later, the Xperia ZR devices are beginning to receive the new Android version. Owners of the devices can choose to update them manually by hooking up the phone to the computer, using the PC Companion software. Another option for update is by using the Sony Update Service. In this case, you need to follow the step-by-step instructions from the link here.
Overall the Android 4.2.2 build for Xperia Z and Xperia ZL is not much different than the update for Xperia ZR. After you get the new version, the name of the firmware will be changed to 10.3.1.A.0.244. The user interface is the same for the updates in the three mentioned models. According to Sony, Jelly Bean 4.2.2 will improve significantly the strength of 3G among other enhancements. The screen contrast will be significantly better after the update. The higher contrast will make the dark text more readable on light background.
One of the other improvements in the new version of the platform is the DayDream screensaver feature. You can enrich the whole user interface with a new Accessibility option. The new build consists of bug fixes and more power efficiency options. You will also notice little changes in the way that the Update Center looks like that seem to fit better the concept of the phone.
Something that we all were hoping for has finally arrived with the new build – the Quick Settings option is included in the more convenient place than before – as part of the notification toggle.
Sony has just begun to release the update. If you have not received it yet, just be patient and wait a few more days or install it manually. Share with us what you think about Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running on your Sony Xperia ZR.
