Snapchat with a major update for iOS, new services added
Snapchat for iOS adds swipeable photo filters, replay function and more
The popular messaging service Snapchat has released a major update for its iOS application. Just before the Christmas holidays, all users can have an access to a variety of new features and improvements. First of all, the company adds different filters, text fonts and other enhancements. The visual filters (two colors and one black and white) let you add nice effects to your images, though some users have found them difficult to use.
Alongside the color filters, Snapchat adds new smart filters. The first one overlay the time when the picture is taken. The second filter adds the temperature, while the third one is a bit strange – it records how fast you were going at the time of the shot. The changes include also a new Helvetica font. You can choose it by clicking on the message box while you are typing. A front- facing flash has been added too, allowing you to light up the self shots. You can access the new option by going to the Additional Services menu in Settings.
The new replay option gives you the possibility to view the Snaps more than once a day, which is against the previous Snapchat policy – all messages were displayed once and then disappeared forever. In addition, the new Snapchat for iOS 7 lets you replay images or videos in the stream but only if the recipient opts in the feature. Otherwise, you can see them up to twice. The application also lets you add up to seven friends in the ‘best friends’ menu.
According to the company, this is a major step forward for Snapchat and a pretty big update in the eyes of the consumers. Snapchat for iOS can be downloaded from here.
