Smartwatch from Samsung – Samsung Galaxy GEAR
Samsung had filed a trademark application for the name Samsung Galaxy GEAR a month ago. This was instantly believed that this is the name the Korean giant is about to apply for the new smartwatch that it is going to introduce. The speculations around the issue have become more serious and some even suppose the new watch will be released on September 4th in Berlin along with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3. There is already a leaked section of Samsung’srecent trademark applicationwith USPTO, which is dated after the previous filling for ‘GEAR’, and it reveals that Samsung is now trying to protect the name Samsung Galaxy GEAR. The filling is under international class 009, which is the category for wearable digital electronic devices, maybe it will apply for let’s say… a wristwatch. What is more the filling was made on July 29th.
Moreover, when you come to think of it, putting the term Galaxy in the name of the watch makes much sense because it will probably be syncing with all the devices in the Galaxy line. To add the Galaxy name to the line of upcoming smartwatches makes a lot of sense. It is known that Samsung is in a tight race with Apple to put up on the market the first product in the category of smartwatches. Apple has already started applying for some protection rights like trademarks in different countries. However, recent information suggests that the company has had to delay a potential launch. The delay may be due to a lot of various reasons, however, there is one that may be the actual. The company has had to hire more engineers to get its watch ready for the next level in development and we may not be able to see an iWatch until sometime in 2014
