SlateBook X2 and Split X2 – the newest transformers from HP
Some weeks ago, there were speculations that HP is working on a new 10-inch Android tablet. Today, we know a bit more about the upcoming devices. HP is working on two variations of a completely new device, a tablet/laptop hybrid. One of the models will run Android and the other will work over Windows 8. According to the official announcement from the company, the devices will be introduced to the audience later this summer, in August.
What will both devices consist of? The Android transformer (tablet/laptop hybrid) will be called HP SlateBook X2. The device that will run with Windows 8 is HP Split X2. The company will sell both hybrids with the keyboard as part of the set. Both devices will be able to work as a standard tablet with the possibility for the screen to detach.
What the specific features and characteristics of each tablet/laptop hybrid are? The Android SlateBook X2 will be offered at the price of $479.99. It will be a high-end device, with 10.2-inch display and 1920x1200p resolution. The SlateBook X2 will work with 2GB RAM, with Tegra 4. The internal memory of the transformer will be 16GB, with a slot for microSD card for additional memory. The OS of the SlateBook X2 will be Android 4.2.2. What the keyboard dock will add to the transformer is an SD card slot, an HDMI port, an extra battery and 2 USB ports. The official data about the battery life for the SlateBook X2 is 8 hours when working with the keyboard and just 4 hours when working separately, as a normal tablet.
The other new divice of the company, HP Split X2 will run Windows 8. It is a low-end device, with a 13.3-inch display and a resolution of 1366x768p. The processor of the transformer will be 7W Core i3 processor. HP Split X2 has 500GB internal memory, with 4GP RAM. The model is heavier than the Android version, 4.85. HP promises the same battery life of the HP Split X2. This model will be offered at price of $799.99.
