Samsung is ready to mass produce 8-10 inch AMOLED panels in February
Some tipsters even suggest 13.3-inches AMOLED displays
The talk about Samsung working on tablets with AMOLED displays started back in November and became one of the hottest topics around. During the Analyst Day event, the Korean company revealed its plans for releasing more AMOLED tablets in 2014 and it seems that it’s a step closer for fulfilling its intentions.
According to the Korean media ET News, Samsung will start the mass production of AMOLED displays for a new line of tablets next month and the first to go will be an 8-incher. So far, the tablets models we’re expecting to see in near future will feature respectively 8 and 10-inch AMOLED displays. According to previous rumors, the 8-inch tablet will launch alongside with Samsung Galaxy S5; which means sometime in April. Of course, those tablets will be quite costly, as devices with AMOLED screens are exclusively for the high-range market, unlike the typical LCD display handsets that dominate the low to mid-range market.
The whole idea of Samsung to release both 8 and 10-inches high-end tablets is obviously a smart move that would allow the Korean company to rival Apple’s iPad and iPad Mini directly. Furthermore, some speculations even tip 13.3-inches AMOLED displays, meaning that Samsung might also try to push the needle for tablets to replace laptops at some point.
Back on topic, the report also suggests that Samsung will be able to produce enough units of those screens by the end of February, so adding that to the previous rumors for Galaxy S5 to debut at MWC 2014, the Korean company might steal all the spotlights for itself. Just imagine: Galaxy S5, Tizen –based devices and tablets with AMOLED screens. That’s what we call someone to put a good show.
On the other hand, excited or not, you will still have to wait for few months before those cool gadgets hit the shelves.
