Samsung preparing a 12.2-inch tablet
Samsung is preparing its first tablet model with a screen larger than 10 inches. Two weeks ago, we read the report that a new high-end tablet with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels is in the works from the Korean OEM. Today, we can find on the market several other high-res tablets, so the Samsung’s move is not unexpected. The new Samsung tablet was first spotted on UAProf lists under the name Samsung-P900. Now, it seems that Samsung is testing a very similar model, named Samsung-P905.
According to the India’s Airport database, Samsung-P905 has a huge 12.2 inch display, which is the only detail we get from the listing. One is sure; the device will have a cellular connectivity. Its name is very similar to what was spotted on July 16. The UAProf reveals that the first variant P900 had a 1.4 GHz processor and Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean. It is quite possible the two names to be variants of the same 12.2 inch model. Earlier publication suggests that the Samsung device would be a member of the Tab 3 family. The tablet is rumored to arrive before year’s end.
Meanwhile, Apple is also testing larger screens for its new products in a way to capture the customers looking for different screen sizes. Its main rival Samsung offers a variety of sizes and models which became the main factor for their success. Or, Samsung’s strategy is to appeal to as many users as possible. Apple still leads on the tablet market, but if Samsung manages to launch a good large screen tablet model, it would seriously threaten the Americans and the struggling PC industry, because a large tablet could easily replace a laptop.
