Samsung introduced the ATIV Q tablet / laptop running both Windows and Android
Samsung expands its tablet offerings with the new convertible Ativ Q, aims to be world’s thinnest Windows tablet. The new model was unveiled at yesterday’s London premier where Samsung showed this convertible laptop running both Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating systems, according to the customer needs. The Samsung Ativ Q sports a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels and 275ppi. There is a full QWERTY keyboard, S Pen stylus and the design of the Ativ Q allows to be used in four modes: laptop, tablet, floating and stand mode.
The model is very light and thin – with its 0.55 inch thickness and 2.84 pounds it is the thinnest Windows Tablet on the market right now. Powered by Intel Core i5 processor and coupled with the Intel HD Graphic 4400 adapter, the tablet offers some mixed laptop- tablet characteristics and could be a good solution if you are willing to make a compromise. Among the other specs are the 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of SSD storage, and USB, HDMI, RJ45 ports. There are also a headphone jack and microSD slot for expandable memory. Samsung promises 9 hours of battery life which is great for a long distance flights.
The Samsung Ativ Q has the SideSync software allowing users to switch between operating systems – Android and Windows which makes the Ativ Q really attractive. Unfortunately, there is no official launch date, which is yet to be revealed. Samsung just said that it will be later this year. It would be interesting to see the price level of the Samsung Ativ Q and if the price is not so high, it could surely get some attention.
