Samsung announced the wearable tech Samsung Gear Fit
The innovative smartband Samsung Gear Fit debuts at MWC 2014
This year’s MWC already brought us countless of the new smartphones, tablets and wearable tech. Samsung is one of the biggest players in the digit world that took the stage of MWC for big announcements. The company officially introduced the successor so of the smartwatch Samsung Galaxy Gear, the Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear 2 Neo. The Unpacked event brought us the long anticipated high-end flagship Samsung Galaxy S5.
Along with those new models, the Korean manufacturer presented an extraordinary wearable tech dubbed Samsung Gear Fit. The smartband has the capabilities of the modern fitness trackers as well as the extra possibilities to display notifications and to work as a media controller. The operating system that runs on the gadget is Tizen OS. It is compatible with the models from the Galaxy line. The Gear Fit wristband comes with a 1.84-inch Curved Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 128 x 432 pixels. The curved display is a real innovation in the world of wearable gadgets today. The Gear Fit is water and dust resistant which is very practical for daily usage. It has IP67 certificate and boasts swappable straps. The battery of the device is with 210mAh capacity which assures several days of normal usage before recharging.
Among the capabilities of the Gear Fit are monitoring of the heart rate of users, working as a pedometer, fitness tracker etc. As we mentioned above the new smartband can display notifications, including calls, email, texts, S Planner etc. In order to do that, the Gear Fit has to pair with a Samsung Galaxy device. The wearable tech of Samsung will hit the markets in April. It is announced in different colors, such as Mocha Grey, Orange and Black. Samsung did not reveal the price of the Gear Fit.
The digit world today is flooded with different models fitness trackers that provide the basic functions for counting calories and steps and monitoring the heart rate. The extra possibilities of the Gear Fit to display notifications give it a real advantage in front of the rival models. Perhaps the price will be the main factor for the success of the device. We will wait and see.
