Samsung 5.5-inch flexible display unit – staring at CES 2013
Handsets with flexible display may indeed look a bit odd, yet prototypes have been around for some time now, have attracted attention, and the public expects to finally see them as end-use devices.
Samsung is one of the phone makers that promised to release a device with a flexible display. This was at first targeted to be introduced “sometime in 2012”, but it didn’t happen. However, during previous Consumer Electronic Shows (CES) Samsung did demo flexible displays and their capabilities.
Now, two years later, Samsung Mobile Display has teased the masses once again, stating that they’ll be showcasing a 5.5-inch flexible display with a resolution of 1280×720, and a 267ppi (pixels per inch) at CES 2013. There have been rumors of this being implemented into future devices, such as the Note III or Galaxy S IV.
