Sailfish OS to be installed on old Samsung’ models, rumors say
New rumors suggest that the Sailfish OS will run on Samsung’s old devices
One of the newest and fastest progressing operating systems is Sailfish OS. The platform has already passed through the first big challenge before any new operating system – to run on a real device with a fulfilling performance. The company that created Sailfish OS designed the smartphone Jolla phone as well. The extraordinary device is the only model that works on the platform.
Fortunately for the developers of the Sailfish OS this is about to change. The news came via Tweeter. Recently one of the engineers in Jolla, Harri Hakulinen shared on his profile a tweet that makes the hint for the possibility Sailfish OS to be integrated in old Samsung models. He uses the creative way to start the rumor by advising users not to exchange their old Samsung handsets for Lumia models because the smartphones will be upgraded with the Sailfish OS. The advantages of the new platform are numerous. It is the successor of the MeeGo operating system that Nokia was working on a few years ago.
The Sailfish OS fascinates with a clean and fresh design with simple user interface and a lot of capabilities. One of the benefits of the platform is its compatibility with some Android apps. The Jolla phone arrives with Sailfish OS pre-installed on it. The company has flashed the platform on other devices, like Google Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 7. The more devices become compatible with Sailfish OS the more popular it will become amongst mobile users. Since the beginning of 2013 we are seeing more and more new platforms to bring more possibilities for users and manufacturers. For now Sailfish OS and Firefox OS are among the most popular new-comers. There are rumors that Samsung will launch its own operating system together with Intel, dubbed Tizen. Time will show. Stay tuned.
