Rumors suggest fingerprint sensor for Galaxy Note 3
One of the interesting new trends that quietly are making its way to the mobile world is the fingerprint sensor. Apple seems to have the lead in this sphere with the rumors hinting that its upcoming flagship iPhone 5S will boast the new technology, integrated in the home button. Now rumors for similar technology for fingerprint sensor surface for the anticipate phablet Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Thanks to the reliable tipster Evleaks we got more juicy details of the software of the phablet hours before it officially get revealed on the Unpacked event. The leak consists of a posting with 276APK files that are included in the system partition of Galaxy Note 3. All those files are actually the features and the capabilities of the TouchWiz UI that will bring the fulfilling user experience. While the list of the 276APKs is perhaps the most interesting for the engineers and the specialists, it is a source of some very interesting information. One particular file is called FingerprintService.apk. The name of the file definitely evokes the idea of the fingerprint sensor integrated in the device.
Rumors for the integration of such technology in Samsung’s devices have been drawing attention for months in the mobile world. One of the tested devices that were spotted in several pictures hinting for fingerprint sensor was Samsung Galaxy S3 while it was testing the 4.2.2 update of Android. At that time no APK files were spotted with such title that would give a clue for the used technology. The new in Galaxy Note 3 makes the idea for the fingerprint sensor more believable.
Samsung is certainly working in this direction. If the soon-to-be-announced phablet tonight arrives without the innovative feature, there are big chances to see it fully functional in the next generation Samsung Galaxy S5. How do you like the idea of fingerprint sensors as part of the improved protection of the user’s data and the device?
