Pebble app store will be officially launched tomorrow, 3rd of February
The official app store of Pebble begins to work on Monday, February 3
In the end of 2013 Pebble made the hint that new things are coming out for its users. At the CES event in Las Vegas last month we saw new models Pebble smartwatches with more attractive appearance than the first wearable devices by the company. Another much anticipated change by the users of Pebble is the launching of a dedicated app store with applications and watch faces. The company has just revealed some more information on this topic. It seems that the launching of the app store will happen real soon – tomorrow (Monday) on 3rd of February. If we summarize all we know about the app store from the previous announcements by Pebble, it should feature 6 categories – Sports & Fitness, Tools & Utilities, Games, Daily and Notifications. Users will easily find iOS and Android apps designed for the Pebble smartwatch. The store will boast different watch faces as well.
The launching of the app store is expected to boost the popularity of the smartwatches by Pebble. Right now the apps users can download apps for the models from different places; however they are not officially authorized by the company. The app store will be the official source by Pebble that will provide abundance of applications for users and perhaps some resources and information for developers in future.
In the last months the company updated the software of the smartwatches and included a support for iOS 7 Notification Center. There is a Do Not Disturb mode. The Pebble Steel smartwatch was officially presented at the CES 2014 showing that the company is on the right road for the improvement of the appearance and the capabilities of its models. Pebble was one of the first companies that introduced smartwatches in the mobile arena. The advantages of its devices are the affordable price, the nice set of features and the compatibility for iOS and Android platforms.
