Oppo N1 is an extraordinary, unique and very impressive phablet that has a lot to offer to modern mobile users today. It is packed with a brilliant set of features and hardware, powered by the customized Android platform with the new Color OS. It is powered by Snapdragon 600 CPU and arrives with a fascinating 13MP camera that can rotate at 206 degrees and unique O-Touch back panel.
Display and Design
There are a lot of things about Oppo N1 that will impress you. The first things that will grab your attention are its size and its premium look. The flagship has the giant size of 170.7 x 82.6 x 9 mm. It is a bit heavy with its 213 grams; therefore don’t expect to feel too comfortable when you are working with the phone with one hand. The phablet is hefty but it is very thin for its sizes – less than 1 cm in width. The ergonomic shape of the device completes its slightly curved body. N1 boasts aluminum frame with polished finish. The coat that covers the panel of the phablet is the secret material that reminds to ceramic and brings the sleek and premium appearance and feel of the smartphone.
Oppo N1 is a massive handset that sports a 5.9-inches IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. On the rare panel is located the O-Touch feature. It is relatively small – with 12×12 cm that is touch sensitive and provides the possibility of users to scroll, take photos and tap on their phablet. The main idea behind O-Touch is definitely great but many users that have already tried it find it inconvenient. Master the learning curve and the feature will bring you a higher level of user experience. It can be disabled if you still don’t want to use it.
On the right side of Oppo N1 you will find the volume and power buttons. There is a micro-SIM slot located on the left side of the phablet.
Hardware
Oppo N1 is a high-end phablet. Under the hoot of the smartphone is ticking a quad-core 1.7GHz processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip. It is paired with 2GB RAM. The internal memory assured in the model is in two variants – 16GB and 32GB. A bit disappointing for users is the absence of microSD slot.
The battery of N1 is with a capacity of 3610mAh. You get a large battery for the massive device, so you can rely on enough juice for your phablet during the busy day.
Camera
The camera of Oppo N1 is one of the things about the phone that makes it stand out from the competition. It is an amazing 13MP camera with Sony’s Exmor RS sensor Pro. It is located on the top side of the phone. The unique capability of the camera is that it can rotate at 206 degrees and locks at any angle you want. Something interesting about the camera is that it consists of 67 components, 50 cables and 10 modules.
According to Oppo the camera can manage over 100000 rotations. For those of you who are interested in the tech insights of the shooter – it boasts type 1/3.06 imaging module and an f/2.0 wide aperture. There is a LED flash on the back of the device. N1 can record 1080p video.
Software and Connectivity
Oppo N1 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean highly customized with the Oppo’s user interface Color OS. It is user-friendly with a lot of features pre-installed on the model. For example users can activate a gesture feature by swiping down from the top left corner.
Oppo has announced a limited edition of the N1 that runs on the new operating system CyanogenMod OS. Oppo N1 is armored with different connectivity features, including GPS navigation, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC etc.
The O-Click accessory
Oppo N1 supports a special accessory named O-Click. It is purposed to assure distant managing of some of the device’s functions. For example, it will beep if the phablet goes out of range. It can be used for taking pictures from a distance among other capabilities.
Price and Availability
Oppo N1 will be introduced to many markets around the globe. It already arrives in China at the price of 3,498 Chinese yuan ($574). For now the phablet will be offered white shell. Oppo has revealed that it will announce the special edition of the flagship running on CyanogenMod OS in December 2013. On 10th of December the model officially was announced up for sales outside China. In Europe It costs €449 for the 16GB model and €479 for the 32GB device. In the States the phablet costs $599 for the 16GB and $649 for the 32GB.
