No native Instagram app for BlackBerry Z10
It seems that the ambitions of BlackBerry to turn their flagship device into a sui generis mobile ecosystem seems to be hold back by the lack of native Instagram application. The company wants to have as much as possible native apps and, of course, the greater part of them to be famous and popular. However, it turns out that although the device now has native Twitter, Facebook etc., it won’t get a native Instagram soon. Maybe it will never get it, as some people believe.
It appears that Instagram has no plans to create an application designed specifically for BlackBerry in the near future. In fact, it’s possible that such an app will never exist. However, this does not mean that the owners of BlackBerry won’t be able to access and use Instagram. They will be able – through a ported Android application.
However, this is not enough for BlackBerry – the company seems to understand that the experience is different and much better with native apps. In fact, it is not sure that there will be a ported one soon, too, as the developers are experiencing problems with its functionality on the system. The official statement of BlackBerry is neutral and assures us that there is a strong partnership between the two sides, while there has been no official statement from Facebook yet (Facebook is the company behind Instagram). Let’s hope the differences will soon be overcome for the sake of the owners of BlackBerry Z10.
