Nexus 5 running on an early build of Android 4.4 KitKat presented in a video
Only a day after the leak with photos of Nexus 5 running on Android 4.4 KitKat surfaced on the internet we get the chance to see a 7 minutes long video of the device working on the platform. The video comes from the popular website for video sharing YouTube. According to the sources of the leak, it shows a prototype of LG Nexus 5 running on an early build of Android 4.4 KitKat. The handset captured on the video does not include the “Nexus” tattoo. However everything in the phone, from its appearance to its features is in line with the previous leaks with photos of the alleged LG Nexus 5. The platform Android 4.4 KitKat is also very similar to what we saw in the earlier released photos. The early build of the platform is named KeyLimePie, instead of KitKat.
The phone presented in the video features the sale large camera module on the back, depicted in the last leak with images. On the bottom side of the device is disposed a microUSB port. The front panel also boasts a shooter located near the top left edge of Nexus 5. The earpiece lies next to the camera. On the right side of the smartphone are placed the power/lock button and the slot for SIM-card. On the left side of Nexus 5 we see the volume rocker. The video confirms the information from the previous leaks that the device arrives with 16GB built-in memory.
The video shows an early build of the platform. Some of the features we have already seen in the previous leaks, like the improved design of the app icons and the absence of the Messaging app. In this version of 4.4 KitKat, the app launched is still with the old design and we cannot see the Google Settings app.
Even though the video reveals a prototype of Nexus 5 and an early build of the upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat, it is great to see the device and the platform running in real. Hopefully everything is going by plan for Google and we will see the new version of Android and the new generation Nexus phone within few weeks.
