New features for Siri in iOS 7
The voice assistant Siri has always been one of the highlights of the iOS platforms. Until now Apple’s users were not completely satisfied by the way Siri works. Will this change with the introduction of the new iOS 7? The conference WWDC was the event where the new update of iOS was announced along with all its improvements and features. Of course, Siri was one of them.
The new Siri arrives with a new design, in tune with the new concept of iOS. The voice assistant has two voices now, a male and a female. It also includes different languages, more commands, options to change system settings and search results provided by Bing. Perhaps not many of Apple’s users will be happy with the absence of Google Search in iOS 7. However, it is a logical move by Apple to not give support to one of its biggest rivals and to choose another search engine as a primary search service instead.
On the first day of WWDC we could watch the presentation of the new Siri and listen to the demo of the voice assistant. We love the option to choose the voice for Siri, more over that it provides different voice options for the foreign languages. We got the chance to listen how Siri works in French. The personality of the voices adds a more pleasant user experience when working with the voice assistant.
The most important purpose of Siri is to work as a search tool. The iOS 7 users will use the voice assistant which gathers the search results from Twitter and Wikipedia. Users can easily ask Siri for updates of the status of their friends. If there is something disappointing about the new improved Siri is the change from Google to Bing as a primary search engine. The switch to Bing is part of the strategy of Apple to remove Google from its products and to try to draw attention to alternatives of the biggest search engine.
