Entry-level basic phone Nokia R appears in a leak
Would you believe that some of the biggest manufacturers today still produce smartphones that are at the end of the lowest rang in terms of specs, meaning only 2G connectivity, no Wi-Fi, no good camera or fast processor? Thanks to the folks of PhoneArena we can share with you a new device by Nokia named Nokia R.
The tipster of Nokia reveals that the simple phone is equipped with a 2.4-inches screen with a resolution of 240 x 320p and 65k colors. It runs on a Nokia OS but no additional information is revealed about the features and the capabilities of the update of the platform. The Nokia R is “dressed” in body that measures 116.4 x 50.3 x 13.25 mm. The phone boasts 16MB RAM. The battery of the Nokia R is with a capacity of 1100mAh. Keeping in min the modest specs of the device, the battery will be able to keep the device fully functional and running for days. Some of the extra features for users are FM radio and MP3 players.
The sources of PhoneArena do not reveal much more for the upcoming Nokia R. The depicted device is posing in a yellow shell. It is still unknown what color options for the model will be. We are yet to find out the pricing for the basic phone. Other interesting details around the device are the plans for its distribution that also remain a mystery for now.
Our guessing is that the Nokia R will be purposed for the developing markets. The tipster does not reveal whether the phone will support dual-SIM. A lot of the models in its category provide this capability. The launching date for the phone is expected in April 2014. The concept for Nokia R might sound almost ridiculous to many of us, but let’s not forget that the main purpose of the model is to serve as a phone and that is exactly what it will do.
