Motorola Moto X new factory visited by Texas governor, who then throws away his iPhone
After a long time of discussions and talking about the plant now it is a fact and it will open new 2 000 jobs in the area. Of course we are talking about the Texas Motorola Moto X facility that is now opened and ready to produce devices.
What is more, now the jobs that will be created along with the facility will be in the high-tech industry and will help develop the region even more.
Recently the CEO of Motorola said that he is not worried about the higher cost of labor as he believes the productivity can be improved. He also believes that this will save money and will add changes to the design of the phone.
Moreover, the company is lucky to be in the middle of a shipping hub, which will allow for quicker turnaround times.
“It does cost a little bit more to make the product here, but not so much more that it changes the overall economics. And we think over time we’ll recoup that investment, because we’ll be able to improve the productivity of the plant much faster, and also improve our designs much faster.”-Dennis Woodside, CEO, Motorola
However, the most dramatic and endearing, for some, part for the whole tour was not produced by the Motorola CEO but the “CEO” of Texas. The governor after hearing that he will receive a Motorola Moto X device just threw his iPhone on the ground and gladly accepted it.
As it seems he will not be winning the Apple fans’ votes in the area but he might win much more if the Motorola facility is there and it provides quality jobs for everyone. So we should say, nice move Rick Perry. And nice move Motorola. Deciding to keep the production at home is, if nothing else, honorable.
