Misleading comparison in favor to Microsoft tablets
In love and war everything is fair… If we interpret this saying for the digit world, it might become a bit easier to understand the different tricks and approaches that company use to make their devices stand out before the competition. Recently, we had a very good example for a tricky move made by Microsoft that tried to mislead the mobile users, giving them a wrong impression about the advantages of its newest tablet.
Obviously, the goal of the company was to take away the attention from the iPad, one of the newest products of Apple and to direct it to its new series of tablets that run Windows RT or Windows 8. The devices of both companies, Microsoft and Apple were presented on a specialized website for comparison of products revealing false and misleading descriptions and pictures of the tablets to imply that Windows device is larger. According to the specs presented in the website, the tablet ASUS VivoTab Smart has a larger touchscreen, which is completely untruth information.
The website makes several unfavorable comparisons between Microsoft’s products and Apple’s tablets (in a favor to Microsoft) in several different aspects, presenting the facts in a misleading way or keeping part of the information for the products.
For example, the website forgets to mention that the iPad is packed with a Retina Display with a resolution of 2048x1536p which is a real advantage before the Asus Windows tablet that arrives with the modest 1366x768p.
Microsoft puts the light on the possibility of its tablet to run the Microsoft Office app. The company claims that the iPad runs only OneNote. Rumors say that very soon, the Microsoft Office apps will be available for iPads too.
Another “advantage” for the Microsoft tablets pointed by the website is the larger cloud space that is offered by the companies. Asus tablets come with 5GB of iCloud storage or 7GB free via SkyDrive. The website does not point that owners of iPad can use both, SkyDrive and iCloud, which assures them total of 12GB cloud memory.
The website continues with comparisons in similar way between the products of both companies. It is up to us to users to believe the written. We cannot help it but ask ourselves, whether those tricks are really needed in the battle between rivals on the digit world, or is it a last try to make up for the disadvantages of the products? Please, share with us what do you think.
