Microsoft commercial tries to take on Apple iPad Mini
A new add from Microsoft was featured in Thursday. Although, it is targeted to undervalue the iPad Mini, it seems that judging by the reception of the different sites even the ones that are supposed to be pro-Microsoft it seems that the attempt done by Microsoft to take on Apple is far from successful. Maybe quite the opposite it makes people judge Microsoft’s tablet 8 instead of the iPad mini.
Neowin – Windows enthusiast site – does not think that’s a good idea. Its headline reads “Microsoft targets iPad Mini by highlighting an awful Windows 8 tablet,”. CNET on the other hand says that the new Acer 8-inch Iconia W3 – the first small tablet of Windows is “buggy and held back by shortcuts and lackluster features.” Other reviews of the commercial are even more straightforward and less sensitive. Other enthusiast site for Winows, Supersite for Windows says that Iconia’s “infuriatingly poor screen and surprising heft relegate this device to also-ran status.” All this happens while Microsoft is just trying to put the Iconia, which supports a full version of Windows 8, in a more appealing light. If you have not still watched the ad here’s a little excert from it (in the voice of Apple’s Siri). “Is that Halo? I did not see that coming…You have Outlook and full Office? Wow, you are a real PC.” WOOOW FULL OFFICE I mean that does not sound pretty good and it certainly will not get you the 18-39 segment of society. However, the Halo is another thing – that might win some geeky admirers to Windows. However, we should not forget Apple started the same way when it wanted to make PC look less likable. With targeted commercial on a white background and funky music that shows the other device failing to provide what it needs to. However, the iPad Mini can surely do more than reading and that’s the problem of Microsoft’s commercial
