Micromax launch Canvas HD A116i in eBay, but it’s not much of an upgrade compared to Canvas HD

Micromax is being such a hard working company these days. Fist the Indian company unveiled their Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 in October; two days later they released the Micromax Canvas A77 (A77 Canvas Juice), followed by some announcements about their upcoming projects of releasing 4G capable devices and even a Windows Phone. Now Micromax introduced the new Micromax Canvas HD A116i that is going to be the successor to the previous Micromax Canvas HD. The smartphone has already been listed at eBay and it costs Rs 14 299 (approximately $230) with free shipping. The official domestic market hasn’t announced their offers yet, but it’s likely to launch the device for a lower price.
Micromax Canvas HD A116i isn’t much of an upgrade, but it packages some pretty decent specs. It’s 5-incher with 1280×720 pixel resolution and 294ppi density.
Almost similar to Canvas HD, the Canvas HD A116i is a dual-SIM device that supports GSM+GSM and it operates with MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor at 1.2GHz with 2GB of RAM and it has PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The integrated storage is only 4GB; however it’s set for expansion up to 32GB via MicroSD card.
The cam is a combo of rare LED flash and 4X zoom 8-megapixel rare camera and 2-megapixel front camera.
Micromax Canvas HD A116i includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPRS and 3G connectivity and it will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, though the company promised to update to Android 4.2.1 very soon.
As you might have noticed, the difference between Micromax Canvas HS A116i and Micromax Canvas HD aren’t many (if any), but yet, not all the specifications have been announced yet. For example, there is no word about what battery the device will feature. Maybe it will have a better capacity and longer talk-time without re-charging. Stay tuned for more news.
