Mi-One S phones – to beat the iPhone 5 record in sales?
The sell numbers of Mi-One S outrun the boldest expectations
Well, we cannot say! But we found it very curious and impressive that 200,000 Xiaomi Mi-One S phones sold in just 30 minutes!
The Mi-One S is an updated version of Xiaomi’s first phone with an overclocked Snapdragon S4 chipset, but the price of $235 (€190) seems to be really appealing to consumers. The original device sold over 3.5 million units, so the company was hoping to reach (and even exceed) the success of the model. The news about the sell numbers of the Mi-One S smartphone certainly outruns even the boldest expectations of Xiaomi. For less than 30 min the company has sold over 200000 units of the model. Xiaomi was proud to share the news via Twitter in several following tweets.
For those of you who are curious about how the company produces and sells its devices, it manufacturers the smartphones in batches. In this way it is well prepared to offer the Mi-One S (or any other model) which is in stock in the stores after the official release of the handset. The first batch of the Mi-One S consisted of 200000 units and as we shared already, it was sold out for no longer than 30 min. Even more impressive is the number of the pre-ordered devices – 1.1 million. Xiaomi will have to work on manufacturing bigger batches if it wants to satisfy the users’ demand for the device. The Mi-One S sports the same design and most of the capabilities of its predecessor. It works with a dual-core Snapdragon S3 chip set at 1.7GHz. As we mentioned above the phone costs around $235 (€190) which in local currency is RMB 1499.
Xiaomi currently sells its phones in China, but is looking to expand make them globally available. We will wait and see. How do you like the specs of the new handset?
