Many new 8-inch Android tablets to arrive in Q3 2013
Eight inch Android Tablets – that is going to be the new trend in the tablet industry according to the NPD DisplaySearch. NPD – a reliable source of information from the digital world believes that in the near future all tablet makers will bet on 8-inch products in addition to the traditional 7 and 10-inch tablets. Among these manufacturers are Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell and others who will launch 8-inch products before year’s end, the publication adds.
With the larger tablets, there will be more possibilities for content accommodation. Similar to the iPad Mini, these larger tablets will keep its portability and light weight despite the larger sizes. iPad Mini was launched with 40% more viewing area compared with any 7-inch Android tablet. At the same time, many people got disappointed, because the 4:3 aspect ratio is not the best format for watching videos. That means, even with the more viewing area, most of the time it is unused. It was soon realized by the other manufacturers and Samsung released its 8-inch Galaxy Note with a 16:9 aspect ratio suitable for watching movies and for media usage.
At the same time, the 7-inch tablets targeted the low-end segment, and most of the products on the market have some not so good characteristics. That’s why, the new 8-inch models are expected to offer more attractive features and specs. Of course, they would be with higher prices, but that is not unexpected. With the constantly decreasing desktop computer market, the shift to the tables could be the only way for many other manufacturers. The total tablet shipments are expected to increase by 67% compared with the last year and we will probably see a plenty of 8-inch new products from Acer, Asus and other companies in Q3 2013.
