LG is working on new models tablets according to the recent Bluetooth certification listings
LG has been one of the few major manufacturers that have not been focusing on developing tablets along with its high-end smartphones and devices. The company did introduce its own model tablet running on Android some year ago; however the device did not bring a success. As a result, it seemed that LG has given up the idea to produce high-end slates. There have been rumors in the recent weeks that the company might try to make a come back on the tablet arena.
The latest leak confirms that rumors, and even more, it leaves the impression that an LG-branded tablet (or tablets) might be announced to the mobile world sooner than we expect. The sources of this information come from the listings for Bluetooth certification. Two new LG devices have been recently granted the certification, LG-V500 and LGV507L. Based on the previous experience of LG, we are pretty sure that those new devices are tablets. One of the clues in support of this theory is the letter “V” in the codenames. This is the letter used by LG in the past to mark its tablet devices. The two listed models might be two different versions of one tablet that support different connectivity capabilities, for example. Another version for the two names is that they note the same tablet for different carriers. LG has not confirmed any of this information yet.
Another interesting detail from the Bluetooth certification page is the fact that the new LG-branded models are listed as “LG Mobile Device” and not as “phone.” Another thing that grabs the attentions is the described hardware for the devices. According to the listing, LG-V500 and LGV507L will work with LAP8064JMR1R130718 build which hints for the usage of Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset (Snapdragon APQ8064).
The IFA conference in Berlin is scheduled for the beginning of September. It is needless to say that after this news, there are speculations that LG will introduce the new model tablets. We will wait and see. The more leaks we get, the more certain we will be that it will happen soon.
