LG announced world’s thinnest HD display panel, its only 2.2 mm
LG continues to innovate. The Korean leader has just introduced its new ultra slim full HD display. It is only 2.2mm in thickness and features a 2.3mm bezel. The new technology allows developing of an ultra slim smartphone. The panel is 5.2 inches and allows a superior user experience and better grip-ability.
The new display is both world’s slimmest and narrowest in existence. The Full HD panel will deliver a large visible space area, so the future smartphones could be used as multimedia viewers more than before. At the same time, the panel will allow manufacturing of lighter devices. The Full HD LCD panel has an improved touch technology allowing a new level of touching experience. Between the panel and the touch film the developers have put dual flexible printed circuits. By this, the number of lines on the panel has been reduced by 30%.
According to LG, these new panels offer superior visibility in direct sunlight. They have a better contrast ratio and brightness levels. By utilizing a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the panel is a true HD display. With these characteristics and features, the new panel outperforms the current mobile panels. The new panel is ultra slim, has Advanced One-Glass-Solution touch technology with Dual Flexible Printed Circuits, a superior display resolution, a reduced number of lines, a great Ambient Contrast Ratio and it is an ultra light in weight.
Dr. Byeong-Koo Kim – LG’s Vice president further explains that this is an exciting achievement for its company and for the whole high-end smartphone segment. LG will continue to innovate and it will be always committed to maximize the consumer value and open new doors for the whole smartphone industry, Kim adds.
