Huawei introduces a 5-inch smartphone in China
Hauwei has just unveiled a new mid- range smartphone for the Chinese market. The device named Huawei A199 stays pretty close to the previously leaked specifications of Ascend G710. The design is also very similar. Let’s remind you some of the G710 features. G710 was rumored to come with a 5-inch 720p display, packing a dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The phone was expected to be a dual sim.
What Huawei actually revealed for the new model was a little bit different. A199 has also a 5-inch display, but the processor is not dual, but quad –core, clocked at 1.5 GHz and it has a 2GB of RAM. Huawei A199 packs a 2150 mAh battery. The phone has a rear 8- megapixel camera and the internal storage is 8GB. The smartphone supports both GSM and CDMA networks. A199 weight around 160g and it is really thin – just 8.9 mm.
If you expect to have Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, you will be disappointed. A199 runs Android 4.1. At the moment the official launching date is not available, but one is clear – the new 5- inch phone will be launched first on the Chinese market, and then can be expected on other markets. There are no official pricing, but according to the specifications announced, it is expected to be a mid- range device.
Other reports from Huawei showed that the company has increased its total revenue with 8%, compared to last year. Speaking about largest market – China, the company has registered a revenue increase of 12%, and a 30% increase of the smartphone sales. On the American market Huawei sees a lower revenue growth – just 4.3%. Despite the global economic crisis the second largest telecommunication supplier after Ericsson expects 10% growth over the next five years, sources from Huawei revealed.
