HTC introducing the new Desire family members – 501, 601, 700 and 300 in Taiwan
The company didn’t fail to show-off with a new collection of mid-range smartphones
During the presentation, set by HTC in Taiwan, the company didn’t fail to show-off with its new Desire collection of mid-range smartphones. Even if the company doesn’t have the success it deserves in the US market, the phone-maker feels safe at home and just introduced a whole bunch of HTC Desire handsets to the Taiwanese public. The four new devices are titled HTC Desire 501, HTC Desire 601, HTC Desire 700 and HTC Desire 300. In fact, the Desire 601 and 300 have already been announced at the IFA trade-show in Berlin last September, so it’s no surprise they sound familiar to you. Desire 601 and 700, on the other hand, are indeed today’s news and it’s said they will come in a dual SIM configuration.
Let’s start with HTC Desire 501. The device can be considered as an HTC One mini alternative with its 4.3-inch WVGA display. Its dial-core processor is coated at 1.15GHz, probably a Cortex-A6.The cam consists of 8-megapixel rare camera and 2.1 front-facing one, however there’s no Zoe support or front stereo speakers. The handset offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB integrated storage set for expansion via MicroSD card. The battery is no less than 2100mAh. The phone is not a dual-SIM unlike HTC Desire 500. The announced pricing is set to NTD 9900 in Taiwan that is exactly $330.
We move to HTC Desire 601, now in a dual-SIM version. The phone has a 4.5-inch display with almost the exact specs of 701 that we’re about to mention later. It operates with a dual-core CPU at 1.2GH and offers 4GB of internal storage; however the microSD card slot is in place. The camera is a 5-mexapixel one 1080p shooter, BoomSound speakers are included as well as the handset supports dual-SIM. Desire 601 is priced at NTD 10900, which is $370.
Finally we get to the best part that is HTC Desire 700. The smartphone can be considered a cheaper alternative to the classic HTC One and has a bigger 5-inch display, however with lower resolution. Desire 700 operates with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with Cortex-A7 and has 1GB of RAM. The handset adopts the stereo BoomSound speakers and offers an 8-megapixel rare camera as well as 2.1-megapixel front-facing one, both with BSI sensors. This time Zoe support is included. As for the integrated storage, it’s set for 8GB and of course, there’s a MicroSD card slot. The HTC Desire 700 supports dial-SIM with HSPA on the first and GSM/EDGE on the second SIM. Unfortunately, the battery is only 2100mAh that basically handles 12 hours of talk-time via 3G. The price is NTD 13900 that is $470.
The fourth HTC Desire family member, HTC Desire 300 will be the cheapest of them all with its price of NTD 7900, in other words $270. Nothing new here.
So far, the collection will be available in Taiwan only and it hasn’t been announced if or when the smartphones will go worldwide.
