Gigaset enters the tablet industry with two Android-based models
The German manufacturer introduced its first tablets – Gigaset QV830 and QV1030
You’ve probably never heard of Gigaset, a company based in Germany well-known with its cordless phones, baby monitors, home networks and electronic accessories. Following one of the its main mottos – “Gigaset stands for communication!”, the German company has unveiled two Android tablet models suitable for both first time and high performance users. Both new tablets come in premium looking aluminum shells. Gigaset QV830 is a budget oriented device with a 8-inch screen while Gigaset QV1030 is designed as a high-end model with a 10.1-inch display. Let’s start with the first one.
Gigaset QV830 includes a 8-inch 262K color screen with a resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels and a 160ppi pixel density. There’s a quad-core processor Cortex A7 ticking over at 1.2 GHz backed by 1 GB of RAM. This model comes with just 8 GB of built-in storage, which fortunately can be expanded via micro SDHC up to 32 GB more. Gigaset QV830 includes two cameras – 5 MP with autofocus on the back and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera. As far as the connectivity, the 8-inch tablet is equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The high-end model dubbed Gigaset QV1030 has a large 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 300 ppi pixel density. It delivers clear, crisp and detailed image, helped by the fast quad-core Nvidia Tegra processor at 1.8 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. This model has an upgraded storage capacity (16 GB) and a better camera – 8 MP with dual LED flash.
According to the company, both tablets running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean should be available in Germany in early December. Gigaset QV830 costs €199 ($271), while the 10.1-inch Gigaset QV1030 is €369 ($502). As yet, there is no source available to confirm an international launch.
