Galaxy Note 3 update solves the third-party accessories incompatibility issue
Samsung fixes the issue that disabled compatibility with third-party accessories for Galaxy Note 3
Few months ago, Samsung started working on a policy that would prevent any non-officially certified third-party accessories to work on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as well as any future devices. For that matter, the handset works only with accessories that feature the official Samsung identification chip and recently it came clear that the Korean company wasn’t just fooling around. In fact, owners of Galaxy Note 3 who have updated their operating system to Android 4.4 KitKat were unlucky to find out that the third-party cases are no longer supported by the phablet. After all a great amount of flaming and frustration amongst the users, Samsung realized that it was a move that they can’t get away with. With that being said, the Korean manufacturer acknowledged the software compatibility issue with the Galaxy Note 3 KitKat update and the selected third-party cases. Samsung did promised a software update that would provide a solution for the problems arising with the product updates for both Samsung-manufactured and third-party accessories.
Apparently, it didn’t take much time for Samsung to keep up their promise and the update has already begun to roll out for the quad-core variant of Galaxy Note 3 with model number SM0N9005. So far, the first country to get it is Poland and Russia with a build number N9005XXUENB3. Although the issue shouldn’t have existed in a first place, it’s nice to see that Samsung acts quickly on providing a fix. Let’s hope that they will be quick once again in releasing the update in more countries and for the other model as well.
If you want to make a manual check instead of waiting patiently for the notification to show up, go straight to Settings> General> About Device> Software Update Menu.
