Facebook Home for Android is out now
Surely everyone who is reading this now is aware that today Facebook held a big press event. The teasers and invitations for it clearly stated that the event will reveal something new to the users of Android. In fact, not something unspecified, but the new Facebook Home that will show the content from your Facebook account directly on the screen of your Android device.
So today in California not anyone, but Mark Zuckerberg announced Facebook Home, a new software that integrates Facebook deeply into Android. Zuckerberg promised a new Facebook Phone, but most of the time he was focused on Facebook Home and agitated the audience to turn their Android device into something special. According to him, the time we spend in Facebook and Instagram through our phones is significant – about 25%, so why not create a phone that pays attention to people, not to apps.
With the help of Facebook Home your device will easily turn into a Facebook phone. Yes, we are mentioning Facebook a lot of times and it is impossible to avoid it as the new software is designed to focus entirely on Facebook with all the apps integrated in it in order for the users of the popular social network to easily access the different functions of their accounts. Now you don’t need to unlock your phone and launch the Facebook app as a special new app called Coverfeed will make sure that you see the news feeds on your home or lockscreen. Moreover, you can directly comment or like from the home screen and the system doesn’t look like Android at all.
Another app – Chathead, is a key feature of Facebook Home. You just tap the heads of your friends and the chat windows with them appear. Chathead will work with Facebook Messenger and SMS and will somehow manage to integrate both systems. The system supports a lot of gestures for easy navigation and every app has its notifications and badges. The notifications are focused on your friends rather than the apps as Facebook Home is planned to resemble your News Feed.
So, at first Facebook Home will be rolled out in a limited capacity on April 12, but later it will be distributed broadly. Now we only have to be patient and to hope that the system is working cool.
