Coolpad Halo announced with 7-inch display and octa-core processor
The Chinese manufacturer Coolpad announced a 7-inch Full HD smartphone called Halo
Coolpad, the third largest smartphone manufacturer in China, announced at CES 2014 in Las Vegas its first ultra-big smartphone called Coolpad Halo. The new model comes with a large, 7-inch Full HD display, which makes Coolpad world’s first smartphone manufacturer to announce a full HD 7-inch model. The display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
Coolpad Halo is powered by a MediaTek MT6592 processor, an octa-core chip, clocked at 1.7 GHz backed by 2 GB of RAM. The new phablet arrives with Mali 700 MHz CPU. The internal storage included in this model is just 8 GB, but you can use the microSD slot and add more space. The Halo is equipped with two cameras. Up front, we are looking at a 5 MP video calling camera, while on the back there is a 13 MP camera with dual LED flash, aperture f/2 and 5-lens optics. The 13 MP camera is able to deliver 1080p videos.
Coolpad Halo packs a large 4000 mAh battery, 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and GPS. It is a dual SIM model – WCDMA+GSM. The new model is running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Coolpad has not revealed its plans for the Halo model in terms of international launch. The phablet has already been unleashed in China, priced at 1888 Yuan. Another new model, Coolpad Spice is expected to be launched in India soon, while the Coolpad 8860U will head to the European market. The company also revealed some other models that we didn’t find as attractive as the 7-inch Halo. Most of them however, probably won’t be seen outside China, so it is not worth describing them in details.
