BlackBerry activates by mistake the landing page for BBM app
There have been interesting things going on with the cross-platform BlackBerry Messenger app. Not long ago a fraud app was available for download by users and left many of them confused. Later on, the user manuals for the BBM app for iOS and Android platforms was posted by accident on the blog and soon after that it was removed. The latest news is even more confusing for users. Apparently BlackBerry has announced on its landing page the BBM app versions for the two most popular platforms iOS and Android. However it is still not clear whether this was a mistake made by accident (again?) or some desperate approach by BlackBerry to draw attention to the app. The second theory sounds more acceptable so we will believe it is the true.
Mistake or not, the message on the page read “BBM for Android and iPhone is here.” the included link in the message is not active. Below the inactive link the page features different apps and services by BlackBerry that are not expected to arrive with the release of the app but later in the fall, like BBM Voice, screen sharing features and BBM Video. The landing page did not reveal any additional information about the launch date of the cross-platform app. We expect to see in the coming few weeks. The landing page has been removed soon after it appeared. With all the recent events, we will not be surprised if wee it again very soon.
The concept for the cross-platform BBM app already has a lot of fans. The new app might help BlackBerry to popularize its operating system and to integrate the platform to more devices. Few days ago we shared with you the ad campaigns by Samsung in Africa for the BBM app. The growing number of leaks and the intense rumors are a sign that the unique cross-platform app will be launched soon.
