BBM app for Windows Phone OS, idea for the future
There is hardly anyone that has not heard about the drama around the BBM app for the Android platform. It was scheduled for launch, and then it was delayed. Then it was released, and then it was stopped etc. The demand for the cross-platform app is strong by users who want to take advantage from one of the most convenient messaging systems, BlackBerry Messenger. Sooner or later it will be a fact. But what will happen with the other platforms and millions of users who want to enjoy the app as well? According to sources from BlackBerry the company is working on a version of the app compatible with Windows Phone OS. The creator of BlackBerry Messenger Gary Klassen himself announced in Hong Kong that “BBM will not be limited to just Android or iOS. We are open to other platforms also. We want more are more people to enjoy and experience BBM.”
Developing of an app for Windows Phone OS will bring advantages to the company and will boast the user experience for mobile users worldwide. Even though BBM is not the most popular messaging system compared to apps like WhatsApp anf KIK, there are certain countries in the world where most of the users prefer BlackBerry’s app. The benefits of launching BBM for Windows Phone might not be huge for the Canadian manufacturer, bur for this tough time for the company every help should be welcomed. The recently released flagship BlackBerry Z30 did not bring the needed success for the mobile giant, nor did the new BlackBerry 10 platform.
The BBM app for Android was delayed because of an unofficial version of the application that caused problems and confusion amongst users. The iOS version of the app was also pulled out temporary. BlackBerry is working on the problem and the apps will be released soon.
