AT&T’s Lumia 1020 is receiving the Lumia Black update with RAW support
Nokia Lumia 1020 devices in the US get updated with Lumia Black / GDR3
Good news for all Nokia Lumia 1020 owners in the US. The long-anticipated Lumia Black firmware and GDR3 have just started rolling out to AT&T’s smartphones. The update brings several improvements, new features and enhancements. Probably the most interesting one is the RAW camera support. Nokia has promised the Black update will bring RAW image support for the premium camera phones – Lumia 1020 and 1520. The latest flagship was released with the update pre-installed, while the 41MP Lumia 1020 is receiving the update now, though Update 3 and Lumia Black have been available for developers for nearly 2 months.
The RAW support takes the smartphone to a whole new level, opening new possibilities for improvements. The images are saved totally neutral, including all the information from the sensor before the JPEG processing, giving you more creativity with the Nokia device. The RAW support comes soon after the recently announced Nokia Refocus app which gives you the possibility to manually adjust the focus after the picture is taken.
Alongside the RAW support for Lumia 1020, the Lumia Black/ GDR3 firmware includes: Driving mode (limits the notifications while driving); screen rotation lock; the possibility to close app from the app switcher; custom ringtones; Nokia Camera update; Nokia Glance Screen update with new notification; Bluetooth Low energy support; enhanced battery life; stability and other improvements.
Nokia has promised other improvements and features such as a new steps feature and an improved Glance Screen in early 2014.
You can check for updates by going to Settings, Phone Update -> Check for updates. To download the Lumia Black you need to connect over Wi-Fi. Make sure your battery is charged before the process .
