Apple loses slide-to-unlock patent trial in Europe
Now, that’s a news! The strong hold of Apple in its native country seems to be totally unimportant in Germany, where a German court decided that an Apple patent is invalid. So, if Apple doesn’t do something, the well-known slide-and-unlock gesture will be something they don’t have rights on.
The problem with this patent started last year when Apple sued Motorola Mobility and won. The Cupertino-based company tried to stop a few Motorola devices from selling. After that Apple decided it won’t be a bad idea to try to sue Samsung for the same patent, but the case was suspended, as the German Patent and Trademark Office had to decide whether the patent of Apple is valid.
Meanwhile Motorola appealed the decision from earlier and this time won. That’s because the court find out that the patent doesn’t meet all the technical requirements so it is not valid. The victory of Motorola against Apple is very important as it means Samsung won’t have to go through the same process. Also, this means that the drama with the patents in Europe is going to be over soon, Let’s hope that Apple will calm down at last and will start competing and making innovations instead of suing everyone with or without a reason.
What do you think of the matter with the patents of Apple? Are the other manufacturers crazy about stealing some technology or a patent from the American company? Let’s hope that Samsung is not so dumb and stuck to copy iPhone, because this will be catastrophe. However, everyone will shut up when they see Samsung Galaxy S4 and what it got. Let Apple say that the Smart functions, the S Translator or something else are its patents and Samsung copied them!
