Apple iPad mini 2 officially debuts with a Retina display and A7 chip
The leak and speculations about the Apple iPad mini 2 were lingering in the mobile world suggesting all kinds of theories, from the possibility for fingerprint scanner integrated in the slate to rumors that it will not be announced as planned, but delayed for the next year. All the rumors, the predictions and the leaks end here and now because Apple officially introduced the iPad mini 2 tablet.
The appealing design of the new generation iPad mini grabs at first glance. It is so well accepted by users that Apple actually changed a bit the look of the full-sized iPad 5 to resemble the body of its smaller sibling. The iPad mini 2 comes in a lighter and thinner panel compared to its predecessor. The new tablet sports a 7.9-inches Retina display with a resolution of 1536×2048 pixels. The slate runs on iOS 7. The processor of iPad mini 2 is dual core with Apple A7 chip and 1GB RAM. A lot of the rumors about the tablet turned out to be false. For example it doesn’t feature a fingerprint scanner – the Touch ID we see in the Apple iPhone 5S. Another prediction that did not happen was the enriched camera to 8MP in the iPad mini 2. The true is that the new tablet comes with the same 5MP camera on the back like its predecessor, the original iPad mini. The slate is equipped with 1.2MP on the front panel that has the capabilities to record 720p HD video.
The battery of the 7.9-inches tablet is with capacity of 2380mAh. It is a slightly improved compared to the last year’s tablet with 2340mAh battery under the hood. According to Apple, it will give juice to the device foe whole 10 hours in continues video playback mode.
The screen of iPad mini 2 has integrated MIMO technology for double better performance of Wi-Fi. The tablet boasts support for 4G LTE connectivity. The Apple iPad mini 2 with Wi-Fi support will cost $399 for the variant with 16GB storage. The 32GB will cost $499; the 64GB model will come at price of $599. The 128GB variant of iPad mini 2 will cost $699. The 4G LTE enable variants of the iPad mini 2 will come at price $529 for 16GB, $629 for 32GB, $729 for 64GB and $829 for 128GB built-in memory. Apple announced that the launching of the slate will happen “later in November.” It will be available in Silver & Grey and Space Grey & Black.
