Android 4.4 KitKat with new feature called immersive mode
It was long expected and now it is here – the new Android 4.4 KitKat. The brand new software update of the Android OS has been officially up for some time now and it brings with it features that are both going to make you think they would really have an immediate effect and yet there are those that will take some time to start getting noticed.
One of the latter is the immersive mode. Even though, the immersive mode will offer to the users a brand new experience that may make it appealing to a lot of developers it might take some time for the feature to really get velocity and acceptance.
Full screen mode for the first time will actually be full screen. No notification bar, no Android navigation buttons taking up precious space, no nothing. This time we will actually feel the full-screen. The first question that pops into mind is “Wasn’t it like that until now?” and the answer to it is no. Even though there are a lot of apps that maximize the space they use of the display there were always either navigation buttons or notification bar in the way. However, now the immersive mode allows users to fully enjoy the size of their device’s display.
This is a particularly good news for the Xperia Z1 users, who have a massive 5 inch display but unfortunately have to stand the navigation buttons taking up the precious space from it. However, now the new Android 4.4 KitKat will not have the same problems and when developers decide to really use this feature in their apps (hopefully they will), we can be sure that it will be pretty useful even though it is not a major change in the Android OS. For now we can say that it will be an interesting innovation.
