Android 4.4 KitKat focuses on the Android TV interface
Apparently, with all the leaked information about Android 4.4 KitKat there won’t be much of a difference regarding the updates of the OS. Some new features along with the interface improvement will be borrowed from iOS7 and that’s could be the only difference for smartphones.
‘I heard Google say ‘the next OS has greatly improved its utilization in TV. In particular, there will be many changes in the interface between smart devices and the TV.’
According to the reports of the Korean ETNews the focal point of the new Android OS will be that connected smart TV and not the smartphones themselves. The major focus with Android 4.4 KitKat will be fixing the interface and the inefficient application interfaces regarding the interaction between Android and smart TV. Google will change the branding of its smart connected TV efforts, from Google TV to Android TV. A number of industry insiders claim that Google will increase its compatibility and utilization with TV platform for the next Android OC with an improved interface between smart devices and the TV. Google has sent some recommendations to major TV makers and that move causing them also to rename the TV set from the Google TV association to ‘Android TV’, will lead the company to be more accurately standing in the competition. Also, there’s a rumour that Apple is about to release two TV sets on their own during next year, respectively one of 50-incher for $1500 and one 65-incher for $200. The Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the models is mandatory. Besides that, Google masterminded an invasion of tablet apps amongst the developers in the Play Store, so the battle clearly moves to larger displays after Android conquered the smartphone market.
Unlike Samsung‘s release of a TV loaded with Tizen or the LG Electronics, Android OS-based TV isn’t planned to launch yet. ‘Having confirmed the potential of the TV market with Chromecast, Google is more likely than not to develop its own TV set.’ The insiders claim whatsoever.
