Android 4.3 update for HTC EVO 4G gets rescheduled for mid-February
HTC America president Jason Mackenzie himself made the announcement in a Tweet
Owners of the HTC EVO are anticipating the upcoming Android 4.3 update; however they will have to wait a little bit longer. Unfortunately, the Taiwanese company has missed its goal to bring the update until the end of 2013 and according to its final statement, the new Jelly Bean flavour will arrive to HTC EVO sometime in the middle of February.
Let’s hope this time is for real, as the HTC America president Jason Mackenzie himself made the announcement in a Tweet and he promises that it will enter sprint testing very soon in mid-January so owners will receive the update month later. He doesn’t specify a particular reason for the reschedule, but in all it’s not a surprise as the company has already gave their update plans by carriers.
Anyway, there’s a reason to be impatient for the upcoming operating system update along with HTC’s custom Sense 5 UI as it will bring impressive feature for the HTC EVO 4G. It’s one of the rare cases when a smartphone receives an official update traversing three major Android versions and it’s also somehow a testament to Android 4.4 KitKat’s compatibility with only a little bit less powerful hardware of the device. In a reminder, the HTC EVO runs its Android on a dual-core processor coated at 1.5 GHz with 1GB of RAM. Even though the processing doesn’t make the phone a powerhouse, it pretty much covers it all as KitKat is aiming also towards much less powerful mobile devices with 512MB of RAM.
Either way, it is also not uncommon for such updates to get delayed by several of reason, and there are cases where such delay has happened for few months. Let’s hope this is the last delay for the Android update and soon owners of HTC EVO 4G will receive the promised setup.
