Alcatel OneTouch and IriTech getting ready to unveil a tablet device with integrated iris recognition during the MWC 2014
Alcatel and the biometric company IriTech develop iris recognition tech with a lot of potential for mobile devices
More reasons for rushing our adrenaline in anticipation for the upcoming MWC event keep on queuing on our list. This time, the interesting news comes straight from the HQ of Alcatel and the biometric company IriTech that have been teaming up to debut a tablet with iris recognition technology. Taking things more poetically, the project focuses on the windows to the very souls or, in this case, to a new slate. We expect to see quite a breath-taking demonstration of the iris recognition and how will the futuristic technology work with functions like lock and unlock, as well as data encryption and launch control of the applications.
According to the statement, the iris recognition tech takes seconds to scan and authenticate the iris and it has quite the potential to bring security benefits and the ease of use. The collaboration between the two companies has given power to the idea of a camera module with iris recognition and IR LED that are being installed into the slate with a particular matching algorithm. The demonstration will reveal the potential of the tech onto mobile devices and will be shown on working examples, along with second factor authentication for mobile financial transactions and other stuff like one time password (OTP) generation and remote vehicle control.
CEO Daniel Daehoon at IriTech shares that the iris recognition has a lot of potential for mobile devices and it will unlock a myriad of applications. The prototype’s true goal is to define the new era of iris recognition tech as well as for IriTech’s product in particular. On the other side of the table, CMO Dan Dery at Alcatel ensures a great user experience and adds that the new iris scanning approach will bring more into the very heart of this experience.
