Exynos 5 Octa tested at the Mobile World Congress
Exynos 5 Octa by Samsung is one of the candidates to make the future flagship S4 run smoothly and without problems. The Mobile World Congress provided the opportunity to see how exactly the processor works, though earlier Samsung gave explanation on the big.LITTLE technology.
The Exynos 5 Octa sports 8 cores – 4 of them are (big) Cortex A15 that handle the more demanding processes, and 4 of them are (LITTLE) Cortex A7 – energy efficient and responsible for the less demanding tasks. This ARM architecture is called big.LITTLE.
Before we saw how the system works with the help of a setup created of two cores A15 and three cores A7 and without a graphic accelerator. They ran an Android system and received tasks to handle by a MP scheduler – it chose which core to perform a certain action depending on its intensity.
Now at the Mobile World Congress we see the Exynos 5 Octa reference board hands-on-ed. You can follow the processes, the productivity and see what core does what – everything is shown with graphs and bars. The chip is surely quite beasty technology and is both powerful and wise when it comes to energy saving. Let’s remind you that Samsung Galaxy S4 is coming out on March 14 – let’s hope it will feature this processor!
