IP57 to become a must-have smartphones’ characteristic
It seems the smartphone producers are trying to put everything in their newest devices in order to attract customers and to exert influence on the mobile market. Amongst the HD screens and cameras, n-core processors, extremely large store capacity and what not else, a new trend appears to be the obtaining of an IP57 certification. In other words, the devices with this certificate are dust and water proof and if you drop them in the bathtub or spill a glass of water over them, it won’t be a trouble.
Certified or not, there are a lot of waterproof phones. Maybe the most attractive of them is Sony Ericsson Xperia Active – it is not only resistant to water, but also dust-proof, shock, drop and scratch resistant and you will need a really hard hit with a hammer in order to break its glass. There are a lot of crash test videos of this smartphone and it is really amazing to see it hit with a stone, dropped, put into a tank of water etc. without taking any damage.
Sony seem to really like the waterproof technology and find it useful to have a device that is able to make videos underwater. Their Xperia Go, Xperia Acro S and other devices are waterproof, too. Among the other popular waterproof devices are Motorola Defy+, Defy Mini and Razr Maxx, as well as well as Panasonic Eluga. And don’t forget that Sony Xperia Z is sure to be IP57 certified and Huawei Ascend P2 is rumoured to follow its steps!
