LG Nexus 4 in strong demand, yet only less than half a million units have been produced
Some talented guys over at XDA-Developers have managed to crack the Nexus 4 serial number code, and using their system they’ve made an incredible claim. Counting the numbers, they’ve found out that although enjoying strong market demand, only less than half a million units of LG’s Nexus 4 have been produced and respectively sold. To be more precise, they came up with a total of just 370,000 units.
Now, ain’t that a shame! Google, the company that pretty much runs the internet, has had problems processing Nexus 4 orders, explaining this to be due to the demand their servers encountered. When the above information was released, Google did not comment on the accuracy of the figures revealed, but one can imagine what may have been mumbled through clenched teeth directly addressed to LG. Indeed! They gave the Nexus contract to LG and would not expect the latter to produce less than enough number of units.
Yet, how many Nexus 4 units may have been expected? LG should have had a million units available already at launch. And even this number is not a lot in the grand scheme of things.
Reasons? Obviously, LG have other priorities in their production plans. There’s probably a glut of Optimus G inventory, meanwhile the unlocked unbranded and stock version of said phone is in such high demand that it’s being sold for nearly double the retail price on eBay.
