Nokia Lumia 920 exclusive to AT&T for only 6 months
Exclusivity to certain ‘hot’ smartphones can be a ‘hot’ deal for carriers, potentially driving sales through the roof. However, this year the situation is different because no carrier can afford that.
As it seems, the exclusivity rights for AT&T to the Nokia’s latest Smart device – the Lumia 920 – will only go on for 6 months. Previously, the Lumia 900 was an AT&T exclusive too.
Nokia wouldn’t naturally expect hot sales on the US market even for its Lumia 920, since they succumbed to another exclusive deal with US carrier AT&T. It also could simply show that Nokia just didn’t want to bother with making a version to fit Sprint’s or Verizon’s networks.
Now, such a marketing move sounds all right, for… in 6 month’s time, the Lumia 920 won’t be anywhere as ‘hot’ as today. In our times, every, even the smartest device can go out of fashion really quickly. So even if Nokia comes up with a CDMA version for other US carriers in six months, this would still leave these with just scrapes. So we doubt any of them would pick up the phone at all.
