EE brings first 4G LTE network to the UK
US carriers have been long bragging about their exclusive 4G LTE networks, while across the pond it was still limited. But things are changing now, as the Everything Everywhere is rebranding as EE and will be rolling out the first 4G LTE in the UK.
The “4GEE” service is to actually cover a third of the population by the end of this year, predominantly in the UK big cities, and will be available to phones and laptops. Five LTE-enabled phones will be available initially – the Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, the new Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, the HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE.
On top of that, EE has plans to roll out fiber broadband to homes, and has promised lower prices if customers get both fiber broadband and 4GEE.
Surely the US Orange and T-Mobile have not so much to fear about it all! Their stores will remain intact, but you’ll have to go with EE if you want 4G.
