At Mobile World Congress 2023, Samsung is taking the opportunity to promote the Busan World Expo 2030
At the current Mobile World Congress 2023 event, Samsung is taking full advantage of the opportunity to promote Busan, South Korea as the host for World Expo 2030. To that end, the company has assembled a panel to advocate for Busan and emphasize its strengths as a potential location for the 2030 event. Visitors to MWC 2023 can learn more about why Busan is the ideal city to host the tech-focused World Expo.
At the Fira de Barcelona, Samsung projected a promotional video for the “Busan World Expo 2030”. Additionally, the city was filled with Galaxy S23 posters, including one on the outer wall of the Barcelona Cathedral, that all had messages encouraging Busan to host the World Expo in 2030. During the MWC 2030 event, Samsung organized activities to show their support for the city of Busan.
Samsung is fully committed to making Busan the host of World Expo 2030. In January, the company positioned digital outdoor advertisements in Davos, Switzerland to grab the attention of around 2,700 leaders and top officials from 52 nations.
However, their efforts stretch further back. In 2022, Samsung set up digital adverts in 23 spots in Busan and sought backing from prominent figures, such as Mexico’s President, Panama’s President, and Vietnam’s Prime Minister.
The World Expo is a global event that only occurs every five years and is held in different locations for each occurrence. The upcoming Expo, set to take place in 2025, will be held in Japan, but the destination for Expo 2030 has yet to be determined. Samsung is working hard to promote the candidacy of the Korean city of Busan, while other interested nations, such as Italy (Rome), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), and Ukraine (Odesa), are also in the running. Unfortunately, Russia (Moscow) has withdrawn its bid due to the military invasion of Ukraine.
It is expected that Samsung will devote further resources towards advancing the Busan World Expo 2030 in the years to come. Only time will tell what plans the company has in store.
