Alcatel is among the most active companies at MWC with great abundance of new models presented at the event. The manufacturer launches something for everyone from advanced and LTE enabled devices to low-cost entry-levels models. The new tablet from Alcatel is exactly this – an ultra affordable device that costs only $110 (equal to €79).
Alcatel OneTouch PIXI 7 arrived in the mobile world with 7-inch screen QHD TFT with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. In the heart of the model is working a dual-core processor with MediaTek 8117 chip clocked at 1.2GHz. There is a decent amount of RAM – 512MB and 4GB storage. The tablet will be released with EMEA version and with LATAM variant with 1GB RAM on board. The native memory is expandable. You can use microSD cards for adding up to 32GB storage. One of the main advantages of the OneTouch PIXI 7 is the new software. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat which helps it to stand out from the rest of the low-end Android tablets. The slate is provided with two cameras, both with 0.3MP located on the opposite sides of OneTouch PIXI 7. Among the additional features of the model are IR port and support for Miracast. This means that owners of the tablet can use it as a smart remote control as well as media streaming gadget.
The new OneTouch PIXI 7 is purposed for the emerging markets. Alcatel will launch the slate in July. It will be offered with abundance of accessories adorned in different colors. The markets where the OneTouch PIXI 7 will be available include Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
Lately more and more companies are introducing capable entry-level devices. Most of the manufacturers are focusing in providing affordable smartphones. It is definitely nice to see that a new budget tablet with Android 4.4 KitKat will be up-for-sales in summer.
