Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus with a quad-core CPU goes official in China
Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus is the refreshed version of Galaxy Mega 5.8
Samsung has just introduced a new phablet in China. It is a refreshed version of the large-sized Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8. The new model is dubbed Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus (model number I9152P). The new device sports a very similar (almost identical) design with the original model. It arrives in a sleek body with dimensions 162.6 x 82.4 x 8.99mm. It weighs 183.5 grams. The phablet has a 5.8-inch qHD screen. It boasts a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The pixel density of the Galaxy Mega Plus is relatively low, only 190ppi. The main improvement in the new phablet compared to the older Galaxy Mega 5.8 is in the processor.
The updated version of the device is powered by a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz which replaces the dual-core 1.4GHz processor ticking in the original model. The RAM is 1.5GB. It arrives with 8GB internal memory which can be expanded easily with microSD cards. The phablet features an 8MP camera on the rare panel. There is a 1.9MP shooter on the front panel. The operating system pre-installed on Galaxy Mega Plus is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is customized with the Samsung’s TouchWiz UI with some of the characteristic features pre-installed on it – S Translator, Popup Play etc. The battery of the new phablet has the same capacity as the cell working in Galaxy Mega 5.8 – 2600mAh. In terms of connectivity we expect that the refreshed version of the phablet will sport the same features, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and GPS.
The company has not revealed yet how many color variants will be available in China. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 is launched in white, black and plump purple. For now the Galaxy Mega Plus is available in China. No word has been said about the possibility for the model to land on more markets across the world. Stay tuned.
