Ting lowers its rates across their service levels
Existing users will start seeing the savings on their monthly bill as soon as next month
In honour of their second anniversary as a MVNO, Ting is inviting all US customers to the celebration by dropping their rates. The operator points out the lower rates across their service levels on their official blog, and focus on savings for heavy data usage. The offer seems to be permanently, not just a limited-time promo, so existing users will start seeing the savings on their monthly bill as soon as next month, and newcomers to the MNVO will receive the new lower rates no matter which carrier they make the switch from.
The contract free service for users of unlocked phones on Sprint’s network still remains as an option. Basically, the new Ting rate plan raises the upper limits of the remaining level and reduces the cost per unit. With that being said, roughly 98% of all users will see the savings and if we do the maths right in order to compare Ting’s rates to those of other carriers, the results might be really message stating. The folks from Android Authority have also done the math right, comparing the heavy data usage benefits of Ting and Simple Mobile.
The test starts with the high tier offer by Ting for 2000MB of data for $29 with $0.015 for each additional MB. In comparison, Simple Mobile doesn’t have a fee breakout for data; however it offers a plan for 3GB of 4G data for $50. It appears that with 1000MB of usage, users can save about $135 per years. The best thing about Ting’s decision is that the MNVO ditches the idea of long-term phone plans and will charge you based on your usage- messages, minutes and data during the month.
